LCD SCREEN

| Step 1: Open a 300 x 300 canvas, 72 dpi, white
background.
Step 2: Hit 'D' key to reset default colors.
Select the Round Edge Rectangle Shape tool and draw your shape in the
middle of the canvas. |

Step 3: Create a new layer. Control+Click on
the shape layer to make it a selection. Go to Select/Modify and
Contract by 4 pixels (you might have to try other settings depending on
the size of your original shape). Fill this with the color of your
choice. In this tutorial the hex is 659AD1. Do not deselect.

| Step 4: Making the grid. Open a
new canvas 20 x 20 pixels, transparent background. Magnify to around
800%. Select a 1 pixel square brush (either in black or navy and
using your shift key to draw a straight line, make a cross like this. Go
to Edit/Define Pattern. Save this as a psd in your textures folder
for use later.

Step 5: Returning to the LCD canvas, create a new layer and go to
Edit/Fill select pattern and fill with pattern you just made. Lower
layer opacity to somewhere between 20-30%. You can now hit Ctrl+D to
deselect.

Step 6: Create a new layer
above the background layer. Right-click on the original black layer.
Go to Select/Expand and enter 5 pixels. Fill with A9A4A4. |

Step 7: Double click on this layer to bring up the
layer styles dialog box and check inner shadow, click on Inner Shadow to
bring up those options. Set Angle at 0 and change Contour to
Cove shallow. |

Step 8: Create a new layer above your grid layer.
Right click on original black layer and go to Modify/Contract and enter 2
pixels. Fill this layer with white and deselect.

Step 9: Using a Size 300 hard brush (this will
allow you to obtain a subtle curve on the upper left corner, erase all
white except this corner. Use a smaller brush to erase what's left
behind. Drop opacity to around 25-30%.. |

| Step 10: Right-click on the highlight
layer to duplicate it. Go to Edit/Transform/Flip Horizontally and
then vertically and position in the bottom right corner. Change
opacity of this later to around 10%.

| Step 11: Create a new layer above all the
other layers.
Right click on blue layer to make it a selection. Go to Edit/Fill
50% Grey. Go to Filter/Render/Lens Flare and position the flare like
the one on the left.

| Step 12: Change the layer blending mode to
hard light and you should now have something like this. Play around
with it, you may decide to remove the corner highlights.

| Voila! The basic
LCD Screen. I decide I didn't much care for the blue I had use and
so did a color overlay in the layer styles of that layer. Add
whatever text you wish, try different effect in the layer styles, and add
to it as you wish! The possibilities are endless!
