Cat Logo


1. Duplicate the background and call the layer cat. Turn the background off.

2. Click Image=> Rotate Canvas=> Flip canvas horizontal.

3. Use the Magnetic lasso tool to click around your cheetah, selecting the entire cheetah to work with. You may want to leave the back behind paw out of the selection. Once you have selected all of the cheetah, click the mask button on the bottom of the layer.

4. Highlight the background layer. Insert a new layer and fill it with black. Insert another layer called sign.

5. On the sign layer use the rectangular marquee to select a rectangle from the bottom joint of the tail to the body over to ALMOST the right edge and down so it is almost as tall as the hind leg.

Set your foreground color to Hex value #DFC39E (make sure use web safe colors is not checked). Fill this rectangle with this color using your paint bucket.

6. Click Filter=>Noise=>Add Noise.

  • amount = 20
  • distribution = Gaussian
  • monochromatic = checked

7. Click Filter=> Blur=> Motion Blur.

  • angel = 0
  • distance = 20


8. Insert a new layer. Fill this layer with black.
Click Select=> Modify=>Contract. Contract by 10. Hit your backspace key.

9. Right click on this layer and select blending options.  Check pattern and set the pattern to the wood grain preset.
In blending options Check Gradient overlay.
Set the following:

  •  opacity ==43 %
  • linear
  • black to white
  • align with layer
  • angle=90
  • scale 100%

In blending options check Bevel and Emboss.
Set the following:

  • Style = innner bevel
  • Technique = smooth
  • depth = 100%
  • direction = up
  • Size = 5
  • Soften = 0
  • Angle =63
  • Altitude =28
  • contour = Rounded steps.


10. Highlight the cat layer. Right click and bring up layer options. Check Drop Shadow.

11. Select your Type tool set to the color Hex value #DFC39E. Type in Kewl Cats in Book Antiqua or the font of your choice at 55 pt, bold. .

Right click on the text layer and select Blending options. Check bevel and Emboss. Set the bevel to

  • Pillow Emboss.
  • Smooth
  • depth = 100%
  • direction = up
  • size = 5 px
  • soften = 0
  • Angle= 45
  • altitude =51
  • contour= Cone Inverted.

12. Crop your image.
