Making Texture Tiles for use as patterns and backgrounds

1. Open a new image
Save the file as texture.psd. If you already have one, use the one you have
to add layers to.
- Call it Texture
- 200 wide
- 200 high
- 72 pixels per inch
- RGB
- White background
2. Insert a new layer. Call it BRICK.

3. Color it Tan using the paint bucket and hex #993333 for foreground.
Double click the foreground color. Uncheck web safe colors and add the hex
value 993333 to the box labeled #.

Click Filter=>texture=>texturizer.
5.Click ok.
6. Creating Seamless Tiles- Offset your canvas by clicking
Filter=>other=>offset.
- 100 horizontal
- 100 vertical.
- wrap around.
The Seam may have some highlights on the middle horizontal and middle
vertical lines.
To get rid of the vertical lines, do the following.
- magnify your canvas to about 300X. Make sure rulers are showing.
- Select the single column marquee tool.
- Hold down the shift key and select pixel columns 18, 19, 20 and 21
successively so thatyou end up with a 4 pixel wide selection.
- Click Edit=>copy
- Click Edit=>paste
- Select your move tool. Hold your shift key down and slide the new
selection over to center around pixel 100.
To get rid of horizontal lines do the following.
- magnify your canvas to about 300X. Make sure rulers are showing.
- Select the single row marquee tool.
- Hold down the shift key and select pixel rows 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22
successively.
- Click Edit=>copy merged
- Click Edit=>paste
- Select your move tool. Hold your shift key down and slide the new
selection down to center around pixel 100.

Merge
your new layers onto your brick layer by clicking on each new layer and
select layer=>merge down.
7. Save your PSD for additional textures. Save your file in Gif or jpg
also for the web.
8. Adjust your colors using hue/saturations to get variations of this
brick.. Save again.
