The Magic Wand

    • Open an image with a solid color background.
    • Here is an image provided for you
    • Right click on this image and chose (save picture as)
    • Open the picture in PSP
    • Select image form the top, and chose image information
    • Find the deminsions in pixels and create a new file the same size
    • Go back to your map picture (us_st.gif) or whatever picture you are using
    • Select the magic wand tool
    • Under tool options, select RGB value feather 0
    • I chose tolerance 16 for this picture
    • Using the wand, click on your background color
    • You will see that all only the background color is selected.
    • If you do not have all of the background area selected, increase your tolerance level
    • If you have too much selected( part of your picture) decrease your tolerance level
    • Once you have only your background selected chose (selections>invert) from the top menu bar
    • Your map ( or other picture) should be selected now
    • Chose (edit>copy) from your top menu bar
    • Chose your arrow tool
    • Right click on your empty canvas and choose paste
    • You should now only see your picture, with no background to it.
    • Export as a gif or picture tube if you like.
