Instances

A symbol can be placed on the stage and run independantly from other "instances" of the same symbol, hence, the name instance. You can name movie clip instances on the instance panel and call up the actions of different instances of the same symbol so that they are playing at different times. this tutorial will show you how to add "instances of a movie clip.

1. First create a new document

2. Click on insert, new movie symbol type in any name you want, make sure that movie clip is selected then click on ok

3. First select any color and draw a square

4. Where it says Scene 1 click on it. This takes you back to the stage

4. On your keyboard hit ctrl L. This will open up the library

5. Search for your movie clip and drag it to the stage

6. Select the movie clip once

7. Click on modify, instance

8. Next to name put anything you want

9. Open your Instance Panel by clicking Windows=>instance. Here you can name an instance and set the properties of any one instance if it is differs from the symbol.
